American Dad

On the third Sunday in June, we celebrate Father's Day.  It is a day set aside to honor and celebrate fatherhood.  Although Father’s Day had been recognized in the early 1900’s elsewhere, it wasn’t until 1972, that President Richard Nixon made Fathers Day a permanent national holiday.

This was taken during the end of cycle stakes. They just diverted us while we were running and told us to sit down. Next thing I knew they were taking my pic.

Below you will find a poem wrote not only in honor of Fathers Day, but also in honor of my grandfather Stanford Lee Lewis (deceased) and my uncle Laurentz Lewis (see photos). Enjoy!!!

American Dad

Your no ordinary man, you’re an American Dad.

You were born and raised to show honor to the American Flag.

Your sacrifice, dedication, and commitment are true.

We pay homage to the American Dad in you.

The American Dad never lets his family down, for his feet are planted solid in American ground.

The American Dad will do whatever it takes, to keep his country protected for America’s sake.

So I pay honor on this day, to a dad with great American pride and faith…

Happy Fathers’ Day
